Memorial Day Ready: Kick Off Summer in Style with the Ultimate Backyard Setup

Date
05.15.25

Memorial Day marks more than just a long weekend—it’s the unofficial start of summer, and the perfect time to transform your home into a relaxation destination. Whether you’re hosting family barbecues, winding down after work, or simply soaking in some well-earned R&R, now is the moment to prep your backyard and indoor spaces for a season full of fun, comfort, and connection.

Here are some creative ways to get your hot tub, swim spa, sauna, and game room summer-ready and ensure your Memorial Day celebration starts the season off right.

Hot Tubs: Refresh and Rejuvenate

Your hot tub is a year-round haven, but it really shines when summer evenings arrive. Memorial Day is the ideal time to:

Deep clean and drain your tub to remove any lingering winter grime.
Check filters and chemical levels—start fresh with a balanced water system.
Add fun lighting or floating speakers for nighttime ambience.
Upgrade accessories like spa steps, covers, or cup holders for convenience and flair.

💡 Tip: Add aromatherapy spa scents in seasonal fragrances like eucalyptus-mint or tropical citrus to turn your soak into a sensory retreat.

Swim Spas: Make a Splash All Season

If you’re lucky enough to own a swim spa, you’re in for a summer of fitness, fun, and family bonding. To get started:

Inspect jets, pumps, and temperature settings—make sure everything’s primed for peak performance.
Schedule a maintenance check if it’s been a while since a professional tune-up.
Create a swim circuit or aqua fitness routine to start strong this summer.
Stock up on waterproof resistance bands, floats, and games to keep the whole family engaged.

🌀 Pro tip: Add some water-safe LED lighting for evening workouts or pool parties.

Saunas: Summer Isn’t Too Hot for Heat Therapy

Contrary to popular belief, your sauna isn’t just a winter luxury. In summer, saunas help:

Promote detoxification and circulation, especially after workouts or swim sessions.
Enhance skin health with open pores and improved hydration routines.
Boost mood and relaxation, which is always in season.

Freshen it up by:

Cleaning the benches and updating towels or aroma stones.
Creating a post-sauna cool-down station with chilled towels, infused water, or an outdoor shower.

🌿 Think of it as the wellness zone in your personal spa resort.

Game Room: Bring the Fun Indoors

Summer storms? Heat waves? Game night saves the day. Use Memorial Day weekend to revamp your game room into the ultimate escape:

Re-felt your pool table, calibrate cues, and check the level.
Add a mini fridge or snack bar station to reduce game-time interruptions.
Create team tournaments for pool, ping pong, or darts—perfect for family bonding or friend night fun.
Add ambient lighting, cool wall art, and even a Bluetooth speaker setup.

🎮 Bonus: If you’re planning a staycation, a great game room makes every day feel like a getaway.

☀️ Set the Vibe: Memorial Day Decor & Vibes

Pull the whole scene together with some patriotic flair:

Red, white, and blue towels or outdoor pillows.
Solar string lights for twilight sparkle.
A few small flags placed around your spa or patio.

🍔 Don’t forget a grill station nearby—because no Memorial Day is complete without burgers and s’mores.
